Did this really happen? It seems like a blur. It was only the a few short weeks ago that Monica had asked me if I were willing to make a showpiece dress for her exhibit at New Jersey Fashion Week. Was I willing? I was so honored she asked me!!!
She showed me a picture of a beautiful skirt. Very couture inspired. I was up to the challenge. I had three weeks to get it all done. Using the picture as a jump off point, our bigger idea was to make this gown adjustable so that many models of all sizes could wear it. It will be the beginning of our "Dream Couture Photo Series."
I was swimming in tulle for a couple of weeks...as well as self doubt.
What was I thinking when I said I would do it? Did I take on too much? Despite my own self sabotage, I was truly enjoying the process. Learning every step of the way.
Lo and behold, New Jersey Fashion Week was upon us. Anyone who walks by the booth will see my gown. Oh the butterflies! So many wonderful comments. So affirming. What a wonderful experience! I have included a slide show below.
Many heartfelt thanks go out to Monica Hahn Photography for her undying faith in my creativity, her go get 'em attitude and spirit. Contact her to be able to wear this one of a kind gown and have your own Dream Couture Photo Shoot!
